Saju (사주, 四柱) — the "Four Pillars of Destiny" — is a Korean system of fortune analysis based on your year, month, day, and hour of birth. The eight characters (사주팔자, "saju palja") encode the cosmic energy at the moment you were born and reveal patterns in personality, career, relationships, and life cycles.
Unlike Western astrology's 12 zodiac signs, Saju uses 10 Heavenly Stems × 12 Earthly Branches across Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) — a far more granular system that maps your life into 60-year cycles.

Saju Diary — 12-Month Workbook (PDF)
Want to learn Saju yourself? Saju Diary is a 12-month English-friendly workbook with daily prompts, monthly reviews, and a glossary of Korean Four Pillars terminology.
Both Korean Saju (사주) and Chinese BaZi (八字) descend from the same Tang-dynasty Four Pillars tradition. Korean Saju emphasizes 10 Gods (Sip-sin) interpretation more heavily and is integrated with traditional Korean culture's life cycle rituals.
I don't know my birth hour exactly. Can I still get a reading?
Yes. The first three pillars (year, month, day) still encode meaningful patterns. The hour pillar refines the reading — if unknown, our system uses the day's mid-point as a default and notes the limitation.
How accurate is fortune telling?
Saju shows tendencies, not deterministic outcomes. Think of it like a personality framework (similar to MBTI or astrology) but with much more granularity. Use it as a self-knowledge tool, not as a substitute for medical, legal, or financial advice.
